Steps to Find Health

What if you had pain under your foot whenever you took a step with your right foot?  You might try to ignore it and hope the pain disappears over time.  Yet, after one week, you find that the pain is worse than ever.  You decide to seek out the help of  a Medical Doctor.

The MD examines your foot and finds no problems.  Because you are in pain, he may prescribe you with a pain-killer medication.  Since inflammatory problems (like plantar fascitis) are prevalent in many similar cases, he may prescibes an anti-inflammatory.

The meds seem to help, but after another week, you find the pain is still the same.  You visit the MD again who offers a cortisone injection to help you with the pain.  You, like most people hate shots, but you are willing to go through with it in the hopes of relieving the pain.

The shot also seems to help momentarily, but soon again the pain returns again.  You seek out the MD a third time who says that it might be due to the fact you are 10 pounds overweight.  He suggests you lose weight but offers no solution for this.  He also recommends Physical Therapy and if that fails, then exploratory surgery would be the next step.

You are starting to feel overwhelmed, angry and depressed.  You complain about your plight to a neighbor who recommends that you visit the local Doctor of Chiropractic.  You laugh and tell her that you do not have neck or back pain.  Your neighbor responds by saying that Chiropractic is much more than what you were thinking.  She goes on to say that Chiropractic care helped her migraines, allergies and anxiety.

You think about it and with no other options to escape the pain, you decide to visit a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC).  You thought Chiropractors were not ‘real’ doctors but are amazed to find out that they go to school for an extra 6-8 years (2-4 years for undergrad and 4 years of Graduate Chiropractic studies)  and their education contains the same amount of hours as Medical Doctors.  You are impressed that DC’s  have to take 4 grueling national board exams in addition to some individual State exams.  You can’t believe that the office is filled with many people and that there are many testimonials describing success from sleep deprivation to sciatica pain and from shoulder pain to infertility.

You next meet the Chiropractor who performs a thorough history and examination.  He asks you for your shoe and removes a small pebble from it and you are stunned.  He says, “We as Chiropractors simply remove the interference to allow your body to function and heal in the most optimal way.”  Immediately the pain is gone and you think wow, Chiropractic is simple, easy to understand and the most natural approach.  You think you should have come here first before subjecting your body to various drugs, chemicals and shots.
